“About Me”
Sup. My name is James Cameron Connelly, but since my parents are indecisive, I have always just gone by Cameron. I'm a graduate of the University of South Florida, St. Pete, where I earned a degree in Marketing. These days, I'm the Content and Research Coordinator at The Sports Facilities Companies, where I spend my days crafting engaging content for our websites (yes, plural… don’t get me started). I use a blend of creativity and data to educate our audience, drive leads, and highlight the amazing work our managed facilities do.
I also had the pleasure of helping launch Community Playmaker magazine, where I get to write about things other than youth sports for a change! I'm responsible for creating “snackable” content to engage our readers because nobody has the attention span for anything else these days. Plus, I'm the resident fact-checker, ensuring that everything we publish is accurate and relevant. I’m not the only one that checks the articles though so if you find any errors then I blame my coworkers.
Now, for the important stuff. My greatest love in life is my dearly departed dog, Franklin. Everybody always thinks that their dog is the best or the cutest in the world, but I am the only person that isn’t lying when I say that. He was the best and cutest dog to ever exist. My second love is snowboarding. I always hoard my vacation days until winter to blow them all on trips to snow covered mountains around the world. Japan has been my recent obsession; the culture is incredible, and they get some of the best snow in the world and in massive quantities.
When I'm not chasing powder, I am probably sitting at home trying to paint something. I may not be the world's best self-expressive writer (working on it, sort of…) but painting and other crafts allow me to express myself more freely. My creations are certainly unique. Either I'm a visionary genius, or I'm making stuff that nobody would ever want. Jury's still out.
I don’t know how in-depth I am supposed to be going here but I'm a big fan of movies and music. I know that those are both things that probably everybody enjoys but it felt weird to not include them in my bio, written by me, on my website. What if I didn’t mention it and then people reading this assumed that I didn’t enjoy movies and music? I’m definitely overthinking this. I tend to do that when I write. It’s probably time for me to stop and do something else for a bit.
